Bolton Castle Refreshes Groups Offer

PRESS RELEASE

Bolton Castle Announce Extended Range of Group Tours for 2024 and 2025

Groups are always welcome at award winning Bolton Castle, near Leyburn, in North Yorkshire.  Tailored to your requirements, the team offer castle, garden, history and education tours for all ages and interests.  With coach parking and easy drop-off, roomy tea room, daily falconry displays, five floors of castle and extensive gardens, bespoke tours can be cut to fit and include as much or as little as group organisers wish. Group tours of 15 or more visitors cost £10 per person plus the usual admission charge (minus £1 per head) and are available throughout the open season with the exception of weekend event days.

Groups at Bolton Castle include a gardens tour and/or history, offered March to October. Group tours of the garden are available at £50 per group plus the per person (min eight visitors, maximum 30) plus the daily admission charge, and last for approximately an hour. These private tours will chart the gardens from their medieval beginnings, their original plans and plants, to how the gardens have evolved to what they are today - a celebration of the legacy of the gardens surrounding the castle.

Education group visitors start at £8 per person and Bolton Castle offers an exciting range of opportunities for schools and other groups of young people to visit and learn more about what castle life was really like, the fascinating historical events that took place here and how much things have changed. Most of the day is spent with ‘hands on’ history, the children dressed in period costume enjoying activities such as dancing, archery, spear drill and pomander making. A full day can run from 10am to 5pm. Different options for school visits include Full Activity Days, themed guided tours, teacher led activities, and self-guided tours with activity sheets available for different themes. Topics available include medieval and castle life, The Tudors, Mary, Queen of Scots, among others and can be adapted to individual themes or topics on request.

Pre-booked hospitality in our Tea Room can be organised to fit to group organisers’ requirements and budget. Prices start at £5.50 per head for tea and homemade cake.

Notes to Editors

Bolton Castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles in the country. Originally built as one of the finest and most luxurious homes in the land, the castle bears the scars of over 600 years of fascinating history.  Still in the private ownership of Lord Bolton, the direct descendant of the castle’s original owner Sir Richard le Scrope, the castle provides a programme of events throughout the open season, great for families, history buffs and those who just enjoy fresh air and glorious views. The castle, gardens and tea room are fully open from 2 March to 1 November 2024. Falconry displays take place every day and are free with entry. Tickets cost £15 per adult, £12.50 concessions (children under 4 are free).
