A Major Year Ahead for the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle

With the arrival of the Tour de France, 2014 presents an extraordinary opportunity to showcase Yorkshire globally.  As part of this the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle will host an ambitious and inspiring programme of exhibitions and events showcasing contemporary and modern sculpture.

Spearheaded by Henry Moore Institute, The Hepworth Wakefield, Leeds Art Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park ‑ with support from Welcome to Yorkshire, Leeds City Council and Wakefield Council - these four unique galleries are partners in the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle, an initiative that brought 1 million visitors to Yorkshire in 2013.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle (YST) is unique and comprises four of Europe’s leading visual art organisations with a shared aim: to inspire visitors to experience sculpture in superb Yorkshire locations.  Working with more than 200 of the world’s most renowned artists and sculptors, the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle team ensures Yorkshire is one of the very best places in Europe to see contemporary and modern sculpture.

In this special year for Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle looks forward to exhibiting work by artists who have world-wide acclaim.  The four YST galleries are all situated within 20 miles of one another and this year they will feature permanent displays of work by Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Sir Antony Gormley and Auguste Rodin.  Alongside this 2014 sees major new exhibitions of work by acclaimed artists including Fiona Banner, Ursula von Rydingsvard, Gego, Bruce McLean, Franz West and Philip-Lorca diCorcia, among others.

The arrival of the Tour de France (Le Grand Départ 5 – 6 July) and the associated events and activities spread across the year, presents a superb opportunity to raise the national and international profile of the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle’s inspiring offer to a wide public.
